The purpose of this activity is to get the knowledge and information needed on how and where to begin with creating our own Media Portfolio.

  • Beginning my research in MCBS Diigo for three articles that captured my interest were Heidi Roizen's Adventures in Entrepreneurship, The Tech Reviewers 'Web Design 101: What Does “Above The Fold”Mean?' and 99u.com "6 Steps To Creating A Knockout Online Portfolio". I chose each of these articles because I want to learn more about each. Literally to continue on the Entrepreneurship path without worrying so much. I don't believe I remember if I've heard of what "Above The Fold" means; therefore, when I scrolled through and saw The Tech Reviewers article title I had to click on it. Then there is the article that will hopefully help me in possibly creating a knockout online portfolio in 6 steps, which it's always nice to know one can create something amazing in just a few short steps in hoping not to get overwhelmed before the completed project.

  • 3 points from Heidi Roizen's Adventures in Entrepreneurship that caught my interest was definitely that to stop clinging to my own or anyone else for that matters valuation. As soon as I let go of the past the better off I'll be and so with my work. As well as, to go back and redefine what success looks like; far too often we get lost when we think we got the success we have been looking for, yet after sometime we begin to lose interest in why we started doing something because of one thing or another. To clear our minds of the old ideas that we had when we began something may of worked then, but we have to constantly switch it up and come up with new fresh ideas to keep the success motivating and alive. The third point that interested me and I learn from was to simply as she calls it on in her article to "hunker down". I can't rush what I am trying to do because a successful business isn't going to happen overnight or even snaps of two fingers. It takes a lot of hard work and patients. Heidi Roizen

  • 3 points from The Tech Reviewers 'Web Design 101: What Does "Above The Fold" Mean?' starting with the definition of Above The Fold from wikipedia, "Above the fold is sometimes used in web development to refer the portions of a webpage that are visible without scrolling." Also they give the definition to Below The Fold which is "the part of the page that is not above the fold. The part of a webpage that can’t be seen without scrolling down." Thus it's a pretty simple to understand, yet it is also a dire component in Web Design. Third point is that "Above The Fold" may have a notable part where it varies based on those who visit the page, which can become confusing; yet stats have revealed that "Above The Fold" is quite bigger than it has ever been. The Tech Reviewer

  • The last 3 points from 99u.com "6 Steps To Creating A Knockout Portfolio" which will most definitely help me throughout the rest of the month on creating my own portfolio and in simple fewer steps is great and saves time. Simply to go through all the work I have ever done and pick out the very best that I am extremely proud of. As it's stated, "Always showcase the type of work you want to be doing in the future." Which is absolutely true. To keep my website at it's simplest and it can still grab the attention with all it's mighty of those that I am trying to reach and share my content with. To create and personalized my own story and make it as unique as I really am all while keeping my portfolio looking crisp, clean and fresh. 99u.com

  • I most definitely can and will apply all these insights I have gained to my portfolio site that I'll be building throughout the week. In making sure I am keeping a positive and open mind attitude knowing that this is only the first stages of my portfolio and I will always go back and edit it by adding fresh content that will be relevant every time. I will keep it at it's simplest and fresh looking with that timeless and modern feel.

The one article that I did a simple google search of my own that I would like to recommend for inclusion in the MCBS Diigo Resources will have to be, Tools And Resources For Editing, Converting And Optimizing SVGs by Cosima Mielke. I think it would be relevant to this course and would be helpful for future cohorts of students because this article is quite frankly new and up-to-date. Published only this year -2016, and talks all about SVGs. It is quite interesting and has a lot to learn from. I didn't spot this yet on the Diigo Resources for MCBS, therefore if it isn't there yet I believe it would be a great accent to learn in this course.
